| Fall Walks | Barbara Wood |
What a tremendous privilege to serve as the Lay-Director for Walk #60! It continues to amaze me how God so graciously laid the entire process out for me to just grasp and use for His glory. As applications came in for those who God placed on their hearts to be a part of Walk #60, to how the clergy selection materialized and developed was definitely a God-thing. Words can’t begin to describe the power of prayer that covered Walks 59 & 60. The incredible, powerful, continuous prayers that were lifted up by the Prayer Teams and others throughout the selection process, during the long, dry summer, during trainings and commissioning, and especially during the walks |
Steve and I really wanted this set of walks to be ones of a servant’s heart, and I can truly say that each of you that worked the walks, prayed for the walks, sponsored a pilgrim on the walks, and so much more, was God’s Priest and displayed the servants heart that we prayed for. PTL. I truly will never forget how unselfish and Christlike each of you were as I watched you allowing God to use you in this tool we call “The Walk to Emmaus”. |
May God continue to bless each of you on your fourth day.

On October 11, 2005, the Upper Room Daily Devotional Guide devotional was entitled “Let Tears Flow.” It was based on Philippians 4:6-7 which reads: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. The devotional told of “weep holes,” which in stone or brick walls, are small holes made in the mortar between the stones or bricks. Were it not for these holes, the water that collects behind the mortar could build up such pressure that eventually the wall would burst. |
The author relates this to our lives and says, “In chaotic circumstances, I don’t have to be anxious. Even when I can’t put my needs and feelings into words, God hears my prayers - or just the cry of my heart - and knows what I need. God is willing to meet that need in the right way, at the right time. I can thank and trust God, who guards my heart and mind in Jesus Christ." |
We experience God in this same way on Walks near noon on Saturday during dying moments. We are able to let go of pressures and sins instead of holding onto them until we feel we will burst. We trust God and give Him issues to handle for us. We have this same opportunity and ability daily as God walks with us and longs to hear from us. Let’s move back next to God and share with Him often. |

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound:
they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance.
In Thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted. Psalm 89:15-16
Remind me, God, to open myself to Your happiness
each day, each moment. Help me not to let life’s pressures
And frustrations cloud my vision of Your unending joy! Amen. |
