BOARD NOTES:
As you may have heard Tony Caro will be moving to Hinton, Oklahoma, as pastor of the Methodist church there. He has done an excellent job in his position of Community Spiritual Director and will be missed. His blend of love, humor and knowledge has been a valuable asset to the board and his friendship to us all a blessing. Tony tells us that his wife Pamela has agreed to go with him and Pamela will also be greatly missed for her service to Emmaus and the church.
Dear Cross Point Emmaus Community,Garmon Smith
I have realized during the last several weeks just how busy I can get with all the things that I need to do, in addition to those activities that I want to do and have to try to find time to squeeze them in. In my busyness, and probably yours too, we tend to push our needed time with Christ aside and get out of touch with those spiritual disciplines that we all received instruction about on our walks to Emmaus. We find ourselves wanting to pursue our own agendas, or the agendas of someone else, and start to dwell on things outside the will of God. The will of our Lord is for us to spend time devoted to Him and His commission to go and tell what we have seen and what we have heard about Jesus. We need to commit more of our time to prayer, meditation, worship, and Christian fellowship, so that we can draw closer to the will of our Father God. As we prepare for the upcoming Walks, I want to encourage each one of you to commit part of your time each day in prayer for our Emmaus Teams and for those Pilgrims that have committed to participate in one of the Walks. I also want to encourage all of us to share table agape with our Pilgrims, prepare food for snack agape to bless our Pilgrims, to sign up on the prayer vigil either on the website or at the Walk sendoffs, and attend the candlelights and closings for both Walks. I pray that we will see a huge outpouring of our Community during this set of Walks and then commit to being the disciples for Jesus Christ in our churches and in our Emmaus Community that we are called to be, since we proclaimed “Christ is Counting on You.” God bless each of you as we all commit to His Walks in the coming weeks.
De Colores.
