I just read a couple of books on the first inroads by Christian missionaries among the "murderous" Auca Indians in the jungle of Ecuador. Five missionaries gave their lives for the sake of the gospel. They were murdered for the sake of the gospel. Later some of their families went back to the Auca's, lived with them, and led them to Christ. A whole generation of missionaries was raised up through their incredible witness. They made a difference for Christ with their lives.

That's what I want to do! Make a difference for Christ! Don't you! Again and again at Closings I've heard so many say, "I want my life to be different in some way" or I want to be there for others.

I remember what I said at my Closing: "I want to make sure that I can help as many as possible go on the Walk to Emmaus." The weekend was such a powerful experience for me personally and I knew that it could be for anyone in the church I was serving. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of so many others.

Consequently, I committed myself to regularly being an Emmaus sponsor. And, over the course of the last fifteen years I have seen many touched on the Emmaus weekend for Jesus' sake.

I urge you to become an Emmaus sponsor. Simply, invite an individual or couple to go, set down with them and tell them everything about it, and sign them up. If you were on the last set of Walks, the sponsor form was in your information packet. If you don't have one, you can download it from www.crosspointemmaus.org or you can call me at 580-223-5390 x308 and I'll mail you one.

I invite you to be a sponsor and "make a difference" in someone's life for Jesus' sake.

WE NEED YOU...to come to the Gatherings and share how God is moving in your life! If God has blessed you (He has, hasn't he?) then tell us about it! Be prepared to share your Fourth Day stories with us so we can all be blessed and our faith increased. You can share your Fourth Day witness in person at our next gathering on June 10, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Marietta or through an article in the newsletter.
"Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come." II Corinthians 17
FRESH FUEL
When we feel the fires of the Father’s love burning, then we start. The music of His voice catches and thrills, and we answer back. His love draws out our answering love. We open the door. He comes in and kindles His fires on the hearthstone of our heart. Then we put fresh fuel on the fires daily: studying His Word, chewing the cud of it daily, obeying it habitually---this is the fresh fuel. S.D. Gordon, The Bent Knee Time (1914)

He Touched Me
"He touched me, O He touched me, and O the joy that floods my soul! Something happened, and now I know, He touched me and made me whole." Did this happen to you during a talk, during group prayer, during candle light service or during dying moments? When Emmaus people chat about "their walk" it seems like we all have a special time when God touched us and made us whole. That event, told just the way you experienced it, is a great witness of God’s love and grace. It also is an article that others need to read in this newsletter. Please send your uplifting articles so others can share, learn and rejoice with you!
ATTENTION: We are now emailing notices the Newsletter has been posted on the website. If you receive yours by email, it’s cheaper for the community!! Please send me your email address if this is possible.
PLEASE SEND your address changes to Charley Roberts, PO Box 387, Marietta, OK 73448, or email to croberts70@yahoo.com Thanks! ALERT: Thanks to our website guru Joe Sherbert you can now update your mailing and email information through the website!
FROM THE CROSS POINT BOARD:
As an Emmaus community we maintain a scholarship fund which is used to pay for pilgrims and team members who cannot afford to attend or work our walks. God has been faithful to provide “just enough” funds to meet these needs. At this time the fund has been exhausted and as a Board we are reminding you, the saints, to send money to replenish the scholarship fund!

Your Board is also taking steps to try to stretch the scholarship money by asking sponsors to consider and make a strong attempt to pay for your pilgrims walk if the pilgrim cannot. We are asking team members to plan ahead for any walk they wish to work and try to save monthly toward their team fees. We are also considering limiting scholarships for team members to one walk per year to make that second scholarship available for another worker or a pilgrim.

We are thankful for the support you as a community have provided in the past and prayerfully ask that each of you be sensitive to what God is calling you to do to support Cross Point Emmaus and our scholarship program. Your gift, large or small, may be the one God uses to create His team and His group of pilgrims on the next set of walks!

ABOUT GOD’S GRACE
You may be decent. You may pay taxes and kiss your kids and sleep with a clean conscience. But apart from Christ you aren’t holy. So how can you go to heaven?

Only believe. Accept the work already done, the work of Jesus on the cross.

Accept the goodness of Jesus Christ. Abandon your own works and accept His. Abandon your own decency and accept His. Stand before God in His name, not yours.

It’s that easy? There was nothing easy about it at all. The cross was heavy, the blood was real, and the price was extravagant. It would have bankrupted you or me, so He paid it for us. Call it simple. Call it a gift. But don’t call it easy.

Call it what it is. Call it grace.

WE NEED YOUR FOURTH DAY LETTERS!!!!

SUPPORT EMMAUS! COME TO GATHERINGS!

We invite you to make the short drive to Marietta on June 10, 2006, to meet your sisters and brothers in Christ and to worship your heavenly Father! Every gathering needs you to be there to join your voice, heart and spirit with others to worship and give of yourselves. One reason we are faithful to our reunion groups is because someone else may need us to be there. The same holds true for gatherings! We long to worship with you!
