| THANK YOU | Kay Buchanan |
As many of you know (since I can’t seem not to mention it everywhere) this June at Annual Conference in Oklahoma City, I will be ordained and received into full membership in the Oklahoma Conference. I estimate that this has been about a ten year process for me! It really has been more than that since I felt God’s call as a youth but didn’t believe it until going on my Walk #6 brought it back into view. It has been a time of much soul searching, doubt, and fear through which you have been a most supportive community.
Dan Patman told me once that my theology had been shaped by Emmaus. After taking Systematic Theology and writing my credo, I believe he is correct. My understanding of Christian action and mission have also been shaped by Emmaus and this Cross Point Community in particular. You are my standard for measuring response to God’s call on our lives. Thank you for the many ways over the years you have believed in me when I didn’t or couldn’t. Thank you for encouraging and teaching me and giving me room to stumble and fall. Thank you for your prayers.
If you are in the City, on May 30th at 7pm, you are welcome to come to the Ordination Service.
De Colores!

| SAYING YES TO GOD’S CALL | Sharen Hale |
During Cross Point Walk to Emmaus #64, my life was changed forever. I began my walk open to whatever God had in store for me. During the first night's film, I realized after 44 years that I didn't have to be spotless or wrinkle free to be used by God. I didn't have to do anything to earn His love or His unlimited grace. During the dying moments, I FINALLY said yes to God and said I would go into some kind of ministry after fighting that decision for a year.
After I went on my walk, I signed up for the next set of walks. I was so excited to experience the blessing from the other side of the walk! No matter if it was in the kitchen or in the conference room I wanted to work! As I sat foot on the campground, I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. I had no idea how many prayers were said for me on my walk, until I worked in the prayer room! Thank you to those prayer warriors!
As I have taken what I experienced on my walk back to my local church, I realized the joy of being a servant is one that is catchy! Being in church services, Sunday school, Mission or my reunion group meetings mean more to me and are more rewarding. The changes that Emmaus has made in me are wanting to study more and my priorities. My "table of Ruth" ladies have met each month at different locations since our walk. We have shared in our joys and sorrows and even in the birth of Matthew Anderson (Kiah's son).
I have found that many people did not know what The Walk to Emmaus is all about. Now, if they ask, I can share my story. I was under the impression before I went, that you had to be married to go. I am divorced. If it hadn't been for my sponsor informing me more about Emmaus, I would have missed out on the changing moment of my life!
God is moving me forward in my journey to ministry. I am so thankful to God and the prayers and support of not only my reunion group, but also my sisters and brothers in the Emmaus community.

A Definition of “Love”….
"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.
He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore." Cindy - age 8
(Isn’t it like that knowing our Lord Jesus Christ is watching us, waving and smiling when we need it?)
Practice God's presence, saying, "God is with me now. God is my constant companion. God will never leave me." The practice of the presence of God, the companionship of Christ is a shield against worry. Would you worry if He were actually with you? There is no if about it. He said He would be, and so He is. (Excerpted from Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's 1994 booklet, How to Break the Worry Habit.) |
