What an awesome Gathering we experienced on Saturday, January 12 at Ada First United Methodist Church! The chapel there was filled to overflowing. Latecomers were confined to the back row by the door. The praise team of Ada area people moved us in the direction of holy worship. The Rev. Steve Taylor of Fitzhugh United Methodist Church led us through the first part of the service. And the Rev. Roberto Escamilla of Ada First UMC delivered a wonderful New Year's message and led us through the Service of Holy Communion.

I was trying to reflect on why this service was so meaningful. Good music! We sang, "Sing Alleluia to the Lord." Good message by a speaker new to our Emmaus Community! In fact, Roberto attended the third Walk that the new Emmaus Community in Nashville, Tennessee had back in 1980. Holy Communion! I find it very special to kneel at the altar with other members of the Cross Point Emmaus Community and know that we share a similar journey. And, good fellowship! The house was full.

Terry Myer (Cross Point Emmaus Walk #51) called me and asked if he could take a busload of Emmaus folks to the Gathering at Ada FUMC and I said, "Certainly!" Nineteen people from Ardmore and Ringling left Ardmore at 4:00 p.m., drove to Ada, ate out at Papagjorgjos (a Mediterranean Italian Restaurant in Ada), attended the Gathering at 7:00 p.m., took in the fellowship at 8:00 p.m., and headed back around 8:40 p.m. Most people were home by 10:00 p.m. Several indicated that they had the time of their lives. Some said that they would never have ventured to a Gathering some distance away by themselves, but felt perfectly comfortable and even excited about going with a group. Especially if it included eating out. An additional four persons drove up in other vehicles and met the group for the evening meal.

Terry told me he's going to do it again on Saturday, February 9. The next Gathering will be at Kingston First Baptist Church (one or two blocks north of the stop light in downtown Kingston and on the west side). Terry indicated that the group would stop in Madill for the evening meal. If you would like to hop on board for the next Gathering, call Terry at 580-223-8377 or email him at tnjmyer@att.net. What a fun way to celebrate with the Cross Point Emmaus Community!

I know that the Rev. Steve Beebe of Kingston First Baptist would offer everyone a hearty welcome. The Emmaus team training event will be held at Kingston First Baptist during the day, so many in the community will already be there. Bring your snacks! Bring others who may not have gone yet on their Walk! Bring community members who haven't been to the Gathering in a while! Bring your Emmaus fervor and passion! Come prepared for a blessing!

2008 Cross Point Emmaus Board of Directors
Dear CommunityCari Dragg
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you. My 3 year term on the Cross Point Emmaus Board of Representatives was over in January. I truly enjoyed my time on the Board and enjoyed serving this community. I appreciate your faith in me in electing me to the Board and allowing me to serve you as Community Lay Director for this last year. The Walk to Emmaus has been a very big part of my life and will continue to be.

I want to encourage anyone who has gone on the Walk to Emmaus to get involved. If you were blessed on your Walk, you will be blessed to serve on another Walk. Working behind the scenes is an awesome experience. It allows you to serve the Lord as well as meeting and getting to know new people or even reconnecting with someone you may have met on your Walk. God works through the Walk to Emmaus, lives are changed and I love being apart of it. If you desire to work a Walk, please fill out a volunteer application and turn it in. That is the only way we know that you are interested. The Walks are coming up and I hope to see some new faces around the camp. Thank you again for your confidence in me.

Community Lay Director 2007

SINGING IN A BLIND ALLEY
When the heart believes, it sings, no matter what contrary signs or circumstances there are. The expectant heart prays and sings. We all pray when we are in a tight place; but do we sing, too? If you really expected the walls of your tight corner to break, wouldn’t you be singing all the day? And when the walls break, look out for those whom you face – they may be needing you to point them to Him who saves.

TABLE AGAPE!!!
What was your favorite? Remember how the gifts of love steadily increased on the dining tables? Thanks to each one for your dedication and gifts in the past. Let’s overwhelm our pilgrims with many loving gifts of table agape again! For information contact Doug Little, Board Rep., Table Agape, or just bring your table agape to each walk!
VOLUNTEER FOR SNACKS…PLEASE!
Can you believe it is almost time for another walk! It still amazes me that God can take so many people and allow each of us to be blessed with serving as part of the Walk to Emmaus experience. Although the list of needs is great, I don’t see it as an obstacle, but rather an opportunity for God to allow more of the Body of Christ to be involved in helping on the walk. Providing snacks allows even those who don’t have a lot of time, money, or skill to be involved—isn’t it just like God to give everyone a chance to serve?

The list of needs will be at the next gathering so you can sign up. You can call me at 580-223-7235 or you can just bring or send something to the walk. If you don’t sign up we can always use more baked goods and liters of pop (we use 50-60 liters per walk). You can also give money and someone will use it to purchase what is still needed for the walk. You can drop snacks and liters of pop off at Sally Beauty Supply, 1111 W. Broadway, Ardmore (next to Blockbuster Video) any time before the walk or call me and I’ll find a way to get it there. See--you can bake, shop, or give--you can bring, send, or have picked up. So there is room for everyone to serve! Please contact Cherri Bradley, Board Rep. for Snack Agape, at 223-7235 or by email at littlec@cableone.net. Thank you and De Colores!
