Persons from around the Cross Point Emmaus Community will be gathering on Saturday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m. for the Gathering/Commissioning Service at the Ardmore First United Methodist Church's Colvert Ministry Center (just north of the main complex). Invite a friend to come with you, bring a snack, and share in the evening of fun, food, and fellowship. Let's pack out the place.
Lay Directors Dale Monkres (Walk #69) and Aylisa Marion (Walk #70) have just about completed the teams. We have already undergone two team training sessions. Talks have been offered for critique; team members have received instruction; and both teams (#69 & #70) have worshipped together. A real sense of bonding is taking place. Everything has been readied for the commissioning service.
One thing is lacking-- PILGRIMS! As yet, both the men's and women's Walks are far from filled. We need potential sponsors to step up to the plate and talk to someone--a friend, a relative, a neighbor, a co-worker, or a fellow church member. Someone mentioned to me last night at the February Gathering that we have at least 100,000 persons who haven't gone on the Emmaus Walk yet in southern Oklahoma.
Board Members, one of our primary responsibilities is to put on Walks. We can't do that without pilgrims. I encourage you to sponsor a pilgrim.
Pastors, Emmaus is one of the greatest tools for personal spiritual renewal in the church today. I encourage you to sponsor a pilgrim.
Emmaus Community Members, one of the greatest treats of your spiritual life has been the Walk to Emmaus. I encourage you to sponsor a pilgrim.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if you, as members of our Emmaus Community in southern Oklahoma, decided to step out on faith and make it possible for someone else to experience what you have experienced. You can download an Emmaus sponsor form. You can contact Emmaus Registrar Julie Altom at 580-223-8260. Her address is HCR 72, Box 312 C, Ardmore, OK 73401. Julie wants you to call her or write her right away.
The Bible says, "Now is the acceptable time." What the Bible is saying is that today is the day to make a Christian difference in someone else's life. It NEVER happens tomorrow. ONLY today! Today won't you take that first step toward sponsoring that special someone.
Who are you going to sponsor?
DeColores,
Dan Patman

Steve & I attended our walks in the Spring of '93. Wow, that's 15 years ago. To say that experience was life changing would be an understatement. Those weekends were the foundation of many things to come. We've served on many Emmaus teams, mission trips, attended Bible studies and more importantly, serve in our local church. After all, isn't that what the weekend is all about? What about you? At closing, what did you say you were going to do with these three days? I encourage you to do what you can for these upcoming (and future) walks. Sign the prayer vigil. Buy some snacks. Serve a meal. I know you will be blessed in whatever you do. Thank you for the honor of serving as the community lay director this year. See you at the walks!
